The Uniform Trust Code (UTC) is a model law which aims to standardize the law of trusts throughout the United States. As of 2022, 36 sates in the United States have enacted a version of the UTC.

The UTC was drafted and adopted by the Uniform Law Commission (ULC), which was established in 1892 to provide U.S. states with model legislation that clarifies and standardizes various areas of statutory law. A copy of the UTC as of April 2023 can be found here.1

The UTC consists of 11 articles:

  10. Liability of Trustees and Rights of Persons Dealing with Trustee
  11. Miscellaneous Provisions
